Good Morning all :)

Hope everyone is as good as they can be :)
Quiet weekend for me again (like i have noisy weekends !)
Havent used my camera in about 2 weeks due to mobility issues but hey ho ..never mind as i am off on wednesday on a cruise :) yipeeeee.

Ok granted it is a cruise on a boat called MV Pocahontas , and leaves from 800yrds from my flat . It then takes a slow steady pace not to the Bahamas , or the Med ..but to... wait for it ....London ..hehe

Going to be a long day tho 1030 til 1800 on a boat , and is the first time i have been out of Gravesend for months .
Plus my dad is coming with me ,and is expecting me to show him how to use his camera :O hehe ..(i am just learning myself !)

Soo looking forward to it , have never seen London from the river .My camera will be overheating .....Greenwich , the dome , the Flood Barrier, all the bridges , the tower etc etc from a totally different perspective . Had a choice to get out at greenwich and walk around (haha not an option!) and we would have missed all the sites of central London .

As for today ... looks like the sun is coming out so think i might consider going into town ..it is only 100 m away and feel i can make it today:)

All the Best
Rich :)

Oh London from the Thames, how wonderful. I've been down there a couple of times with my kids this summer, but not as far as the Thames barrier. Must try that some time. Hope you had a great day.

Hi Rich

I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. I love boat trips- I've been on the Thames several times and it's always a must see when I have visitors from far away. London is fantastic from the river, and you're right, your camera will be overheating. There's so much to see- on both sides. Going through Tower bridge is brilliant. I took my 9 yr old niece from Greenwich down to Westminster and she was so thrilled by it. I've always wanted to go down the river at night too. How far west are you going?

You say you live in Gravesend- I used to live across the river in Tilbury many years ago and used to love going down to see the cruise ships from abroad.

Have a lovely time

Thanks merry berry and Maria
apparently it all depends on the tide how far west we go , but will tell you on Thursday but Chelsea was mentioned .
I live about 800 yards from the river but cannot see it from home .. when i can get down there especially if its early morning .it is so relaxing :)
I have got bored with taking snaps of the power station ;) hehe

I have been on the Tilbury Gravesend ferry , but not a lot over there (apart from the fort) ..oh and of course the rest of Essex (where i was bought up )

Again Thanks :)

Hi Rich

That sounds like a really great day out and with the camera too! I would be in my element Smile Hope your joints give you the day off and you are able to benefit from the change of scenery. Feel quite envious ... however, all being well (especially knees!) I'll be off to the NRAS Group Coordinators Training in Maidenhead week after next so that will be a fun time and something to look forward to ThumpUp

Do report back Rich, with photos please!!

Thanks Lyn :)

Yes i will try to post some images , i will have to get an image shack or other account by the looks of things to post images.

Ive so got into photography the last few months .. bought a fujis200EXR bridge camera in March (definitely upped the quality of my images!)

All my images so far have been of Gravesend , as thats as far as ive gone hehe. Luckily i am just about walk able distance (on some days) from the Thames and a lovely Park , and the Town Centre, sp plenty of images to snap :)

But this will be different :)
Good luck with the training .. funny i used to hate training courses ..now i love them ..got a few CAB ones coming up :)

Edit .just got an image shack account and this is a test :)

Hi Rich-I can recommend Photography Cafe as a great photography site to join. It's one I moderate on and is a family related site with everyone from raw beginners to enthusiastic amateurs (that's me!) to absoluely amazing photographers, all willing to help, advise and praise! There's a gallery too where you can post your pics and ask for constructive critique if you want it.

Thanks Julie ..:)

I will have a look later .. have been on flickr for a while and am a member (since March) of the Fuji -myfinepix site which has weekly and monthly and daily comps and a forum .

I think enthusiastic amateur describes me , hence this Thames trip is purely photographic ..plus with added extra of catching up with my Dad (Mum died last December after losing a long battle with lymphatic cancer.. so the "single " life is all very strange to him)

Funnily enough she left me a little money when she departed , and the new camera , in effect is the result of that , so the trip is even more poignant!

Anyway enough Ramblings hehe
Catch you all later ..

oooh that is exciting- I love boat trips! I always try and do one a year.

my son is going on an "exploring digital photography" course with my dad later this month. he is 15 and got a digi camera (basic point and shoot job) for his birthday and is going to learn to make the best of it. Who knows, it might become a life long hobby for him!

hope you have a great time

Hello Rich

Wishing you happy time and 'mobile' time on your boat trip to London on Wednesday. I hope
the weather will be better. I am in Somerset and it is dreadfully heavy rain and my mood is
heavy with it. I hate rain

Anyway have good day

I will wake up tomorrow and the sun will be shining ..i don't mind if it's raining on the return leg as i've a feeling my camera's battery will have run out ;)

and .... i will wake up and not have any fatigue or aches anywhere ! hehe ....i live in hope for both :)

I am "doctoring" some see-through freezer bags to protect my camera from the rain :) A "Camera Condom" so to speak :)
oo just had a look at that Nikon 450 .. what an odd looking camera ;)

Have a good day all :)

Well that's 5 out of 300 odd .. think i will have to do it again , as it's brilliant being able to sit there in the boat and just snap away :) I hope for better weather next year though :)

Rich :)
